Harold William Schroetter was born on August 21, 1952. He married Bonnie Schroetter, and together, they became parents to their son Nick. They separated in 2000. Harold was a United States Navy Veteran and was an employee for the United States Postal Service in 2009. He enjoyed going out to the casinos and gamble, reading, and having friends and family over to his home and having barbecues. Before he went missing, Harold received the exciting news that he was going to be a grandfather for the first time. The 56-year-old was last seen leaving his home in Falcon Heights, Minnesota in the morning hours of February 26, 2009, en route to an appointment with his attorney, but unfortunately has never been heard or seen since. His girlfriend, Jacqueline Dubay, reported him missing the next day, February 27th. His co-workers realized that Harold had not been coming for his work shifts, and knew how he was never absent. "He never missed a day," Officer Tim Briski said. "He was ex-military, always on time." On March 1st, his red 2004 Chrysler Crossfire with Minnesota license plates was found abandoned in the parking lot of a housing complex near the intersection of Timberlake Road and Jackson Street in St. Paul, Minnesota, just a few miles from his home. There were no indications of foul play at the scene, and no sign of Harold. At the time he went missing, Harold was in the process of a break-up with Jacqueline. When authorities searched her car, they found Harold's blood on the trunk latch. They also discovered that Jacqueline and her brother, Jay Dubay, had just installed a new trunk liner for the vehicle. Because of this, Jacqueline and Jay Dubay are the prime suspects in the case. Detectives believe they will be charged with murder eventually, but as of yet there is insufficient evidence to make a case. Investigators state that the motive was an inheritance worth as much as $750,000. Ramsey County Probate Judge David Higgs blocked the girlfriend, Jacqueline of St. Paul, from collecting insurance or other benefits from his death. "By a preponderance of the evidence, the court has determined that Jacqueline Dubay intentionally and feloniously murdered Decedent," Higgs wrote in probate findings and conclusions filed January 2013. St. Anthony Police Chief John Ohl and probate papers state Harold was preparing to kick out Jacqueline and her three daughters from his home in the 1300 block of West Larpenteur Avenue in Falcon Heights. He was hesitant with this move, and decided to contact his estate attorney during a phone call on Sunday, February 22, 2009, and set up an appointment with her for February 26, 2009, the day he was last seen. A $50,000 reward is still being offered for any information leading to an arrest and a conviction in the case.
